some days I am really tempted to make a blog called anti- anti- social justice warriors
but I won’t
if only because it makes it seem like “social justice warrior” is a legitimate term. And because double negatives are weird.
But it’s frustrating… there aaare issues with how people approach social issues on tumblr and talk about these things, but I would say addressing valid discourse issues makes up like 10% of those blogs, if that. The rest of anti-sj involves basically ridiculing people for caring, making really flimsy points about why they shouldn’t care, and acting like not-caring is some cool subversive act, which it’s not.

Sadly, not just since yesterday, but ever since Jinki flipped Jjong the bird I feel like the entire fandom is on his back, being hyper aware of every step he takes. His tag right now is a mess of people either defending him or complaining about how disappointed they are with him.
Yes, Jinki. Because how dare you stepping off the pedestal they so carefully placed you on? How dare you be human and god forbid, how dare you falling in love? Because regardless whether he really is dating Jungah, how dare he even thinking about women?!
Suddenly Jinki’s image has taken a 180 degree turn from fandom’s sweetheart to risque bad boy. And why?
Because in the past two weeks we have seem more humanity in him than in the past five years combined.
Let’s be honest there, it’s because Jinki has always been the safe one.
Kibum with his edge, Minho with his raging competitiveness Jjong with his blatant flirting and even Taemin who expressed his desire to grow up and doing anything within reach to obtain that image (regardless whether it worked or not), they all had something that made you believe they were flawed, human, one way or another not the perfect choice. But Jinki, Jinki has kept up his image really well. Preached about love for everyone, expressing how he believed his girlfriend didn’t have to speak Korean for him to love her and seemed to be pro-equality.
Jinki gave us, his fans, hope. Created this perfect little bubble inside our heads that he was reachable. Flawless beyond imagination, kind, sweet and amazing as a person, but within our reach.
In the last two weeks he has displayed a different kind of image, a little more edgy, a little more open and out there. Jinki is not a hermit, Jinki is not anti-social and Jinki likes crude jokes within the comfort of his members. And for some reason, now the bubble is popped.
But really, are you being fair to him? I honestly believe he never lied to anyone, he never pretended to be someone he is not and I do think he is still the same person as before. Jinki never changed, just our perception of who he is.
And I find that sad, because that would mean he is not allowed to live his life the way he wants to because he needs to keep the faux imagine other people made him out to be.
In other words, Jinki is still the same, sweet boy as he was two weeks ago. Regardless of whom he shows his middle finger, regardless whether he smokes or regardless of whether he is getting it on with beautiful noona.
Jinki is Jinki, shredded from his Onew mask. So please, get off his back and let the boy live his life. It’s what he deserves, after everything he has already given up.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS?
I mean, can we just talk about how this parallels the actual education system? Where they’re so concerned about teaching us things like logarithms and graphing that we don’t know shit about what’s actually out there in the adult world, like doing taxes or writing checks or anything? I mean, “It is the view of the Ministry that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get you through your examinations, which after all, is what school is all about.” School children are often under the impression that getting A’s in all their classes ensures a successful future, but really, it’s so ignorant because the real world isn’t just one big question-and-answer paper. There is so much more to the world than being able to give back information like some kind of super-computer, and brainwashing children into thinking that theory is key is just going to lead to a bunch of children falling flat on their faces when they’re pushed into the adult world and feel as if everything new they try to do is wrong because it wasn’t taught to them step-by-step. I just really love Harry’s line, “And how is theory supposed to prepare us for what’s out there?” because I feel as if sometimes we just learn things for the sake of knowing them, despite whether it is actually useful. Yes, school is important, and getting bad grades isn’t a good way to start your future, but it’s so much more than that, you see.
this sounds a lot like something Hermione would say
but actually.

“maybe if i drink another coffee, i will feel better”
“maybe if i buy myself a new sweater, i will feel better”
“maybe if i get so drunk i can’t see, i will feel better”
“maybe if i sleep for fourteen hours, i will feel better”
My life.

Being on Tumblr all the time gives me such a deluded view of the world. I start believing that everyone is pro-choice, open-minded, have moral compass, care about animals, care about sexism, racism, body shaming, etc, but then I walk out my front door and realise that everyone is still just as moronic as they were two years ago.
EVERY SINGLE DAY OF MY LIFE
trying to incorporate fandom things and characters into assignments is the only way i get through school
